XCMG's hydraulic spreaders break into the Italian market, attracting the attention of European netizens.
Recently, a European netizen noticed the appearance of Chinese-made articulated dump trucks in Italy and shared it as a novelty with other netizens. Indeed, although a few Chinese construction machinery enterprises have sold their products to Europe in recent years, this is the first time for articulated dump trucks.
Hinge cards originated in Europe. In the early days, there were three relatively successful companies: Volvo from Sweden, Moxy from Norway, and DJB from the UK. Nowadays, Volvo remains the leader in this field. Moxy has been acquired by Doosan, but the factory is still in Norway. While DJB has been acquired by Caterpillar, it is still producing in the UK.
At present, there are still some players, such as Bell from South Africa, who not only produce in South Africa but also have factories in Germany. Liebherr, although its scale is not large, is still constantly upgrading and its production plant is in Austria. The telescopic crane production line of Terex is now owned by Volvo and is still produced in the UK. There are very few telescopic crane factories outside Europe, only Bell in South Africa, John Deere in the US, and Komatsu in Japan, etc.
In China, during the early period when Baoshan Heavy Industry and Terex formed a joint venture, they imported a production line for articulated trucks, but the output was very low. Around 2012, there was a significant surge in the production of articulated trucks. Companies such as Tianye Tonglian, Zhonghuan Power Machinery, and Xugong, among others, entered the articulated truck market. Later, companies like Sany and Guangzhou Electric Locomotives also joined the fray. However, unfortunately, the rush to enter the market did not lead to the popularity of articulated trucks in China. A small number of domestic orders still went to foreign brands such as Volvo and Caterpillar.
The reason for this is that although the hinge card equipment is powerful and user-friendly, it does have high technical requirements and high costs, and thus is not suitable for the low-unit-price situation of Chinese engineering projects. Many Chinese enterprises that initially engaged in the production of hinge cards have either ceased operations or given up. However, one company has never given up, and that is Xugong. Through continuous investment and drawing on the strengths of others, Xugong not only persisted but has also achieved remarkable results. Besides being used domestically in small quantities, many of its vehicles have been sold to countries in Southeast Asia and Africa, and have withstood tests in tropical harsh environments. This shows that China is not only capable of manufacturing high-end equipment but can also reduce the price to a level with sufficient competitiveness.
Now, XCMG's hinge clamps have also entered the homeland of the hinge clamp industry, Europe. They are sold through a company located in Italy. The company, named HITEX, which means "high-tech excavators", specializes in selling XCMG products, including cranes, excavators, loaders, forklift trucks, aerial work platforms, and forklifts.
The European netizens mentioned earlier were the ones who saw the XCMG equipment at the HITEX company, which drew the attention of other netizens. It seems that the European netizens are still very much looking forward to Chinese hydraulic cards.
